Fine furniture is only as good as the wood used to build it. At Forks Valley, we only accept the highest grade North American hardwoods, painstakingly selected for beauty, strength and straightness. Boards are cut to size, color-sorted and grain-matched before being bonded together with a permanent furniture glue to create extremely durable tops and sides for our furniture.
We plane and sand then sand again using a combination of careful machine and meticulous hand sanding. This attention to detail is vital to giving each piece a smooth, silky surface ready for application of the perfect custom finish.
No automated assembly lines. No mass production. Our furniture is hand-constructed by experienced craftsmen specifically trained in Forks Valley manufacturing methods. We use specialized equipment to produce uniform raised panel doors and time-tested joinery methods – mortise & tenon, dovetail, mitered, tongue & groove – for solid quality through and through.
Haste is never part of our process. There is no rushing a work of art destined to be a lasting reflection of your lifestyle and values. The final finish is trusted only to a master craftsman who skillfully applies the stain to ensure a smooth, even coat. In the last step of the manufacturing process, a protective varnish gives the piece a lustrous and tough surface that resists damage caused by normal use.
Before any Forks Valley furniture leaves our workshop, it undergoes a rigorous all-over inspection. If the smallest imperfection in wood, finish, mechanics or hardware is found, the problem is resolved and the piece goes through the entire inspection process once more. The final result is heirloom quality furniture, each piece unique and admired for generations to come.
Forks Valley Woodworking respectfully reserves the right to make changes at any time to prices, materials, specifications, hardware, colors/finishes, models and to discontinue models without notice or obligation. Color reproductions are as close as photographic and print reproduction will allow. All woods and finishes show some degree of variation due to the natural characteristics of wood.
